
A Malverne auto accident involving a pedestrian leaves a man dead after he is struck by a car while crossing the street. The incident took place at approximately 7:15 PM on Saturday night, Januarys 30, 2010, on Franklin Avenue.
According to Nassau police, the victim, Michael Levine, 74, of Oceanside, was crossing the road at the corner of Franklin Avenue and Linden Street when the incident occurred. That is when an unidentified 66-year-old woman who was driving a Chevy Impala northbound on Franklin struck the elderly man in the road.
Based on reports, Levine was pronounced dead at the scene about 10 minutes following the collision from injuries sustained in the accident. The driver of the Impala was not injured in the crash. There were no other injuries reported.
The Malverne pedestrian accident is still under investigation by local authorities. Fifth Squad detectives indicated that they did not find any apparent criminality. However, they impounded her Chevy Impala from the accident scene to conduct safety and brake inspections on the vehicle.
