New York Asbestos Exposure Can Lead to Serious Illness

Long-term exposure to asbestos can lead to chest and abdominal cancers, as well as lung diseases. Asbestosis is a breathing disorder that has also been associated with asbestos exposure. It occurs when asbestos fibers are inhaled and cause scarring of the lung tissue and breathing difficulties. Symptoms of asbestosis take years to surface, but can worsen and may lead to disability or death.
